Building Mental Strength, Resilience & Wellness With AI

There is no shortage of AI technology engine capability to provide us all advice on resilience, wellness and building mental strength to deal better with stress, anxiety and adversity. I’m a believer in and use AI tools for a myriad of purposes-mostly to combine or assimilate facts and data from multiple credible sources-of which they are excellent at. I have a deep technology background and as a result have a solid inner workings understanding of how the technology tools and underlying information/data are being put to use. It’s super interesting to me to continue to study their evolution and ongoing (exponentially increasing) use by society.

One of those areas on the increase is the title of this entry. Our youth and adult population are seeking strategies on how to deal better with stress, uncertainty and anxiety. This is a decade old condition. All the feedback I hear/observe from my diverse clients and my students combined with what I read and see in studies continues to reveal that neither business and schools are providing enough comprehensive focus or solutions in this critical area. So individuals find other solution sources, here AI technology based tools and I don’t blame anyone one bit for doing so.

Here is something highly important to consider with use of these tools. While AI based “mental health tools” can very quickly provide possible strategies and give you a spark of insight, they are not customized to your unique, dynamic human situations AND require behavioral reinforcement methods for the strategies to be instituted into your routine. You are interacting with technology and not a human. Humans have greater experiential awareness for interaction “nuances”. Additionally, habit formation and accountability is required to change/rewire our behavioral processes. Habit change is difficult to very difficult for most individuals to sustain on their own and no two of use are the same in that regard.

When you have no other immediate sources or help to go to regarding your mental health, go ahead and try to use AI for ideas, planning and some basic reminder structure. BUT, do seek and rely on human support (coaches, therapists, family, co-workers and friends) for validation, situational applicability, emotional awareness/support and personalized motivation. Depending on the complexity and nature of your circumstances, AI will not be a replacement for skillful therapists or performance coaches or simply having a family/friend that you can share life’s challenges with and lean on.
