Achieving Leadership Mastery Starts Here

Watch The Ratios

Another simple, but proven to be highly effective approach to building resiliency to stress and adversity, is to more closely observe and manage your interpersonal positive to negative interactions. Seek to keep the number of positive to negative interactions at 3:1 or above. In group settings the ratio is more like 6:1 or above. You will need to increase your self awareness and social intelligence here to be effective.

The ratios are research and study based. What do you do when you feel the ratios dropping below these? That decision is yours to make given the situation, but here are some options:

Take a series of deep breaths

Take a pause in the discussion

Redirect the conversation

Declare there being too much negativity

Leave the room for short period of time

Wait till later that day or the next day to circle back around to a point your were trying to make

The above is only a short list of options and your unique circumstances determine the best approaches.
