Know Your Character
In my leadership team and individual coaching programs, early in the process we talk about character and how it differentiates us. Our world often misrepresents what character is. Think about how often you have heard someone say “that person lacks character”. Reality is everyone has character, in fact, if you follow credible research on character, specifically 24 strengths of character. There are more combination of character strengths than people on our planet. People may not know their strengths and often misuse their strengths, which can come across as odd to us.
Our character fuels everything about us-skills, communication, interactions, learning-you name it. Our big strengths (labeled signature strengths) have been with us since were were kids. Character is the very core of our identity. A good, high credibility place to assess your own strengths is on the VIA website. Do not google or AI your way through this. Take the assessment. Study your strength order and practice being intentional about their use.
The true you is revealed through your character. Know it.
