Achieving Leadership Mastery Starts Here

Getting Better, At Getting Better

The other day, one of our kids asked me “what will you do to get better tomorrow”. A thoughtful question. I thought about it for a day and replied back “I am going to focus on getting better, about getting better”.

It’s worthy of some thought for each of us. We all have goals, dreams and aspirations. We’re coming up to the year end time when many choose a new year “one word” to focus on (we all do that as a family) as a goal orientation reminder. Most everyone wants to improve in something. It takes a positive and intentional mindset to stay committed to and achieve that.

Ask yourself and reflect upon:

  • Are your goals and dreams aligned with specific tasks to achieve them?

  • Have you connected specific behaviors to those tasks?

  • What “nudges” (reminders) will you install to keep you focused and true to your intentions?

  • How will you measure progress?

  • Is there someone you trust who can help to hold you accountable and provide some objective? A family member, friend or a coach?

It’s a perfect time of year to set new (or continue existing) personal improvement goals. Think about what you will do to ensure that you are indeed getting better….at getting better.

Have a wonderful Christmas and holiday season. Be sure to get yourself some “recharge” time.
