Emotional IQ Strategies
Emotional IQ (self-awareness, emotional management, social awareness) is another one of those areas that is often over looked or over simplified. The assessment I use with clients and their teams has 40 assessment question areas Research is showing that 80% (and possibly more) of our ability to maximize our skills in our roles, is determined by our levels of emotional IQ. Everyone of us can improve in this area, including me.
Here are some of the most useful strategies that can benefit all of us.
1.Recognizing and managing stress and negativity
2.Manage your thought processes and self talk
3.Know your emotional triggers
4.Staying positive and optimistic
5.Consciously channeling and keeping emotional boundaries
6.Choose a “time out” or “pause” rather than impulsivity
7.Use your values and strengths to drive your emotional energy
8.Not blaming others for your emotions
9.Using emotional labels
10.Containing impulsivity
11.Gauge how you come across socially. Get/use feedback.
12. Conducting self evaluations
