There is no one measure of success. However, more and more studies are revealing that to achieve greater success, two key leadership traits are critical. Those traits are perseverance and adaptability. Perseverance being the focus and effort we put forth with passion and relentless pursuit of achievement and personal development. Adaptability being how we adjust our attitudes, beliefs and behaviors to the conditions we face.

We need to be adaptable in our focus, decision making and especially our communication. An adaptable communication style can better persuade and motivate individuals. We can influence more effectively when we communicate adaptability. We can navigate through conflict better. Adaptability in communication will also build stronger relationships, which can gain greater trust.

Adaptability involves having a growth and positive mindset of openness and willingness to shift and rewire how we are looking at situations. It also involves self awareness and social intelligence to read the conditions we face and make adjustments.
