Building Resiliency

...when we combine life’s experiences with proven resiliency building methods, we fill up our bounce back reserves even faster, dealing with stress, anxiety and adversity much more effectively.

Resiliency is that bounce back ability from life’s struggles, stress and adversity. Resiliency is also another one of those words that we overuse or simply misunderstand. We all need more of it and it’s doubtful that any of us have our resiliency reservoir filled to the brim. Some of this gets into another broad area labeled social emotional learning. I have a very comprehensive, well designed resiliency building program that integrates well over 30 proven, science based methods.

Stress and adversity are on a multi-decade increase, from our youth to adults, and we ALL need to have a mindset of constantly striving to use proven methods and skills to become more resilient. It’s essential to know that we can’t lead and influence at our best if we don’t function at our best. Building up our resiliency reserves is critical to leadership and team success.

We often hear that we grow (more resilient) through life’s adversity. True AND when we combine life’s experiences with proven resiliency building methods, we fill up our bounce back reserves even faster, dealing with stress, anxiety and adversity much more effectively. We can create a positive upward emotional spiral versus a downward negative spiral. We improve our overall well-being and life satisfaction. We perform better and achieve more.

While there are literally dozens of proven strategies and methods, the simple way to start to put them into practice is through living by these below principles:

  1. Do your best to manage your thoughts and maintain positive emotions

2. Immerse yourself in highly enjoyable tasks that you have a true passion for

3. Reach out, cultivate and keep positive relationships with family and friends. Don’t go it alone.

4. Find your life purpose and try/do varied activities that have deeper meaning to you and are fulfilling. Focus on the joy.

5. Measure and savor your achievements. Have a mindset of passion and perseverance towards goal achievement. Have a plan to work through the obstacles.

For all of the above, know and use your character signature strengths to your advantage.

Manage your day with those above principles in mind and you will most likely build stronger resiliency and feel greater fulfillment.

If you want more to hear about more comprehesive resiliency strategies and actions within those five principles, reach out to me. I have a proven, action oriented system that you will find makes an enormous difference in how each of us can better cope with life’s challenging moments, ultimately improving our resiliency.
