Believe And You Will Achieve
One of the more simple yet far reaching brain motivation hacks is to affirm and re-affirm your beliefs over and over and over again. There is neuroscience around believing. The brain lights up (oversimplifying here) when a person recalls, reflects on or invokes their beliefs. Beliefs are habits of the mind that we seek to continue to execute again and again. Believing boosts confidence. Believing can dilute doubt. Believing can create energy-from within and for others. You have certainly heard that “you can talk yourself into almost anything” if you continue to dwell on that “thing” through believing and dwelling on it. Believing deeply in something can work for you or against you. Again it boosts confidence, but can also create situations where one’s beliefs are not healthy mentally or physically. One could believe that their behaviors are correct when others see things otherwise. It’s valuable to take stock in your beliefs and routinely be willing and open to challenging, altering or eliminating certain ones. Consider this a form of a belief inventory or decluttering.
Now to be clear, simply believing is not going to magically give you new skills or thinking processes. It’s not going to all of a sudden eliminate stress. It’s not immediately going to enable to you be a 5-star motivator. But, it will give you confidence and inspire faith that you CAN start to develop and improve in any area. It can help you get beyond that “imposter syndrome” that many feel at times. It can help push aside doubts. It will enable you to have a mindset of you feeling capable of building up your stress management skills. Just because you haven’t mastered something, doesn’t mean you can’t. But believing that you can develop further, work it, get a bit better with “every rep” and persevere through the learning challenges-will provide you fuel for momentum. Keep your belief tank filled with that fuel.
Believe you can. Hack (convince) your mind into believing that “yes you can”. The more you believe in doing something of value, you will make it a top priority with the right attitude. Believe!
