Achieving Leadership Mastery Starts Here

Why Emotional Intelligence (EIQ)?

When we are honest with ourselves, we believe that personal development is a journey and not an event. We believe that we can always improve, especially in our “core position or role” in life-which also includes our role in our family. Yes, there are areas where we can claim “I am good enough”, but declaring that in ones job position/role is a recipe for not growing, improving and performing to our fullest of potential. It’s a recipe for running into situations where we fail to perform to new standards or challenging situations.

Our world continues to get more unpredictable and dynamic, which is demanding, especially with emotionally charged situations and volatility. The more skillful we are at dealing with elevated levels of stress and adversity, the more effective we can be. Emotional Intelligence (self awareness, emotional regulation, social awareness, empathy, relationships) is one of those areas where a “good enough” attitude is problematic. Many believe that EIQ has become the #1 skill to improve with in the workplace, sport, etc.

I am going to state the “WHY” to improve ones EIQ in the form of “ifs” below:

  • If you want to be more adept at disputing negative self talk

  • If you want to better regulate and manage your emotions

  • If you want to more effectively read how you are coming across in social situations and then adjust

  • If you want to respond more attentively to others’ emotional states

  • If you want to read the group and adjust your interactions situationally

  • If you want to deal with conflict more productively and deescalate rather than escalate or make decisions that you later regret

  • If you wish to operate more intentionally toward your emotions and the emotions of others

  • If you need to demonstrate more consistent impulse control under stress and conflict

  • If you must become more empathetic towards others situations and feelings and life story

  • If you want to better filter biases in your decision making

  • If you want to treat others with greater equality and more fairly

  • If you want to be come skillful at assessing your blind spots and changing for the better

  • If you want to become more resilient to job stress and adversity

  • If you want to improve your overall wellness and health

The list above is only a subset. The point is that the power of enhancing ones EIQ is proven. It’s more a matter of having a mindset that is committed to learning how to use the strategies to become a better version of ourselves.

This takes training on the proven strategies. Reach out if you are interested in hearing more and receiving that training.
