Achieving Leadership Mastery Starts Here

Skills We Neglect Are Often Skills We Need More Of - Think 2020 Goals

How true is this? Reflect upon it. Challenge your prior beliefs on this. We often neglect skills, habits or behaviors that take more effort (mindset) to develop, but in reality they are ones we need more of. It’s easy to fall into a habit of operating in “default” mode, meaning that we are not intentionally and purposefully focused on changing old or building new habits and skills. It takes work and mental focus to change and grow. It may even feel overwhelming at times. However, rewards and recognition flow to those who persist and adapt in their willingness and commitment to assess where they must develop and execute a plan to achieve change and growth.

Be willing to assess yourself or have someone else conduct an assessment of you, with your input. If you have a coach, use her/him to your advantage. Take the feedback you receive. If you need a coach, find one that you can build a solid relationship with and that will challenge you. Reverse engineer (starting with the end in mind, here your goals) what you must do to reach your 2020 goals. Think in terms of skills and behaviors required to achieve them. There’s your roadmap. Measure small gains and wins along the way.

Now, not later, is the time to define and build to the “best version of YOU” in 2020.
