The Willingness To Change
Change is less about our ability to change, develop and grow and more about our willingness, openness and motivation to look at ourselves, situations and advice differently. Yes, each of us has various limitations or interests that fuel our passions and focus. However, when it comes to each of us becoming the best version of ourselves to fulfill the current or future purpose in our life and position roles, we need to have a mindset of “willingness” to seek to change.
None of us should ever adopt that “good enough” mentality, especially in the highly dynamic, competitive and fast paced world we face. To be an “expert'“ or perfect in everything is a fantasy and would be misuse of our time, energy and our character strengths at times-let alone frustrating. But, in the purpose and role we are currently in, we owe it to others we are parenting, teaching, ministering, coaching and leading in any business or organizational capacity, to strive to be most knowledgeable, influencial and effective.
This requires a positive and growth oriented mindset and attitude. It demands for us to be purposeful about our focus and development. We must be accountable for our goals and find ways to work through the obstacles by persevering. Only with that perspective and use of our character “signature” strengths (those we use most frequently), can we most readily fulfill those goals and aspirations. After all, it’s not just about us, but about those around us and ultimately our legacy for future generations to pick up where we left off.
