Building Resiliency - Positive Emotions

While “maybe” it was ok 20 years ago to tell someone experiencing stress, adversity and some forms of depression, that clearly is not effective in today’s dynamic, fast pace and complex world.

The last 20 years of research at very prominent schools has provided us well over 50 proven strategies and methods for building up our resiliency. This applies to everyone of any role and of any age.

Proven techniques such as thought management (very key starting point-being mindful), staying positive, learning from negative, disputing negative thinking, avoiding thinking traps, values based actions, acts of kindness and gratitude and simply savoring and celebrating success are a handful of highly proven techniques. Basically this is all about staying longer in upward, positive emotional spirals as opposed to getting stuck in negative, downward spirals.

The point being, the strategies and methods are there, documented and available for all to use and train others with. They work, when applied. And, once again, there is no simple, easy, algorithmic answer to complex conditions.
